Senior Energy Advisor
Jeff has spent his career at the policy intersections of energy, environmental and national security policy, and brings a wealth of business and government service experience.
Jeff is a former executive leader with 15+ years of experience in government relations, program management, and policy. He recently was the Vice President of Government Relations for The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W), a global power generation technology supplier and manufacturer, and leading contractor for Departments of Defense and Energy. He has also worked for the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
At B&W, Jeff led a team through U.S. Government legislative, funding, and regulatory initiatives in support of nuclear, fossil and renewable energy and defense business goals. Jeff also served as the Manager of Government Programs for former McDermott International subsidiary, BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT), which manufacturers the nuclear reactors for U.S. Navy submarines and aircraft carriers, and supplies commercial nuclear components and advanced reactor design services.
Prior to B&W and BWXT, he was a Vice President with government relations firm Cauthen & Associates, during which time he managed lobbying and public relations campaigns representing small to Fortune 500 companies, including Southern Company and PEPCO, on various energy, environmental, and national security issues.
During his time with the U.S. Department of Energy as a Clinton Administration appointee, Jeff served as an advisor to U.S. Secretaries of Energy and senior leadership. This included key involvement in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of major programs, including the national laboratories, nuclear waste disposition, nuclear weapons and material security, and spearheading accelerated cleanup of the $6B former nuclear weapons complex, the world’s largest environmental program.
With the U.S. Congress, Jeff worked on the House Committee on Energy & Commerce, Subcommittee on Oversight & Investigations, chaired by former Representative John D. Dingell. As a staff investigator, he focused on compliance and regulatory reviews of national security programs and Agency environmental, safety, health and security programs. He began his career within Representative Dingell’s personal office in Washington, D.C., managing energy, environmental, defense and foreign affairs issues.
Jeff is married with five children and resides in Falls Church, Virginia. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Middlebury College.
